Gorge cased Carriage Clock
1677/18: A good quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK of substantial size. The case is of cast brass "gorge" design, the most expensive 'standard' case, with its bevelled glass panels to all five sides and a hinged ribbed handle to the top. The eight-day movement, which retains its original lever platform escapement, strikes hours and half-hours on a gong and also features a separate alarm train. The white enamel dial is perfect and original as are the original blued steel hands. Maker: "G.L."in an oval. A good carriage clock; guaranteed at least two years. 7.25ins (18.5cms) high (handle up).
