Small Wall Clock by Dent

1658/18: An attractive mid/late 19th century mahogany WALL CLOCK of compact size, by the famous clockmaker: Dent. The case is of solid mahogany with a polished surround whilst the front door has bevelled glass within the cast brass bezel. The 8-day movement is chain-driven fusee, with original pendulum; blued steel hands and original painted 10-inch dial. Signed by Dent and numbered, with a further Dent signature on the back of the dial. 12ins diameter. (30.5cms) *Edward Dent (1790-1853) was responsible for making fine and accurate clocks. In 1852 he was commissioned to make "Big Ben" which was completed by his adopted son in 1854.
