Good Longcase clock
1649/18: THOMAS SIMSON of HERTFORD: a good quality late 18th century mahogany LONGCASE CLOCK in fine condition and in perfect working order. Typical of good London "provincial clocks of the period, the splendid case has brass-inlaid columns to the hood and trunk; long trunk door and panelled base with double plinth. The 8-day movement strikes hours on a bell with "Strike/Silent" control in the arch and date wheel. 84ins (213cms) high. *Thomas Simson was apprenticed in 1766 and worked in Hertford from 1775-1795.
