Carriage Clock by Jacot
1621/18: HENRI JACOT: a fine late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK by this famous maker. The case is of the best quality "gorge" design, with its ribbed handle and large square bevelled glass through which to view the original platform lever escapement. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong and repeats hours at will. Fine enamel dial; original blued steel 'spade' hands and in perfect working order. Signed to the backplate. 6.5ins high (handle up); 3.5ins wide; 3ins deep. (16.5 x 9 x 7.5cms) *A "jacot" is French for a parrot or "pretty polly" ~ hence Henri Jacot's trademark of the initials H and J either side of a parrot on a stand.
