Box of Mineral Specimens
1611/17: An interesting "Edwardian" BOX OF MINERAL SPECIMENS in virtually complete condition. Professional produced by Gregory Bottley & Co of Chelsea, London SW3, the pitch pine box opens to reveal four trays filled with no less than 200 individual minerals, all numbered and described, with the original list typed with the names of each item and country of origin. The box measures: 18ins wide; 11ins deep and 8ins high. *James Gregory (1832-1899) founded the company which became the second longest-running gem and fossil dealership in the world. After his death it was run by his son Albert, and in 1931 it was bought out by Percy Botley. The entire contents of the business were sold at auction in 2016.
