18th century BRACKET clock
1584/17: GEORGE PRIOR, LONDON: a very fine and original 18th century mahogany BRACKET CLOCK in perfect working order. The case is charming ~ just a little smaller than usual ~ with its cast brass handle; ormolu decoration to the bell top; inner brass slip frame and bracket feet. The 8-day movement with a finely engraved backplate, retains its original verge escapement, striking hours on a bell and repeating hours at will. Superb dial with finely gilded spandrels; "Strike/Silent" control in the arch; original blued steel hands and date aperture above "VI". A fine clock: 18.5ins high; 11ins wide; 7.5ins deep (47x28x19cms)
