Fine Carriage Clock
1579/17: A very fine quality late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK by the famous maker: Henri Jacot. The case is of "Gorge" design (considered to be the best quality "standard" case) with its large square bevelled glass top and ribbed handle. The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong, and repeats hours at will. The enamel dial is perfect; the blued steel hands are original and it retains its original lever platform escapement. Stamped with the Jacot trademark to the backplate (a parrot between the initials "HJ"). 5.5ins high (handle down) 7ins high (handle up).
