1172/16: A most impressive and fine quality mid-18th century BUREAU BOOKCASE of good warm colour. The upper bookcase top is surmounted by a pierced and carved "architectural" pediment, above twin astragal-glazed doors which open to reveal adjustable shelves. The lower section features a well-fitted bureau with 6 pigeonholes; 6 small drawers and 2 "secret" drawers flanking the central cupboard. Further below are four long graduated drawers, all with oak linings, Good original cast brass and gilded handles throughout.
